SOCIOCRATIC PHASE

1. Rebels raise the proposal in their local XR chapter.
2. The local circle engage in learning about Demand Zero.
3. The local chapter finds consent to consent to Demand Zero at local level. Local circles should use whichever decision making structures they already are accustomed to.
4. CELEBRATE! Then put it into practice…

Imagining phase

This part is about making doing with Demand Zero what XR does best: making it heard, felt and understood by the public.

Once adopting Demand Zero, local groups might think about various aspects when updating how they work.

ARTS & MEDIA:

  • Balance language of futurity with language of the present. Acknowledging that the climate and ecological crisis affects people now, not just in the future.
  • Update local chapter slides for the Heading for Extinction talk to include the specially made Demand Zero slides.

CULTURES:

  • Make space for dialogue for the related culture, society and trauma of the global injustice of the climate and ecological crisis.

ACTIONS AND STRATEGY:

  • Working with a broader range of groups as a movement of movements.
  • Bring to attention the links between events of climate and ecological breakdown elsewhere and the industry, fossil fuels and systems here.

Eg. if witnessing a disaster in the Global South, we react by disrupting industry here which we know has a linked negative impact to the suffering.
